Spring Lovin’ Bimini Tops

Spring is here.. and we’re celebrating early.

Bimini Top with Rear Support Brace

Spring finally made it to the northern hemisphere which means we can dust off our boats and get them back on the water(unless you live somewhere warm like Florida, in which case you’ve probably been boating this entire time and we might be a bit jealous).

Before you get back on the water for what is sure to be a warm and wonderful spring you’ll need to make some preparations.

Spring Cleaning

These instructions apply to all marine fabrics including bimini tops,  covers, & cushions.

For Mildew

1 cup Vinegar
1 cup Borax
2 cups warm water

Mix and apply to mildew spots, letting it sit for no more than 10 minutes. Scrub with a soft bristle brush and rinse well, allowing the fabric to dry completely.

For General Cleaning

¼ cup Dawn dish soap
1 gallon water

Fully wet the fabric and then scrub it down with a soft brush or cloth, give it a good rinse, and allow the fabric to fully dry.

Get tough spots clean with Fabric and Vinyl Cleaner

Apply Fabric Guard to the clean, dry surface to protect the fabric from the elements and extend their life.

NEVER

Put in washer and dryer
Use powerful cleaners like bleach or detergent

Get Shade

It is rare for a small boat to have built in shade, so many people buy a bimini which is basically a boat convertible top that can be set up or down for shade. To celebrate spring you can shop Westland’s entire selection of boat covers & biminis now for 10% off.

Re-licence

Now is a great time to make sure that your boating license, fishing license, or any other documents you might legally need are all up to date. You can apply for everything you’ll need online; just go to your state’s website and they’ll direct you from there.
